Acronicta alni, the alder moth, is a moth of the family Noctuidae. It is found in Europe (from southern Fennoscandia to Spain, Italy and the Balkans), Turkey, the European part of Russia and the neighbouring countries, the Caucasus, the Ural, southern Siberia, Transbaikalia, the Russian Far East (Primorye, Sakhalin, southern Kuriles, Khabarovsk and the Amur region), China, Japan (Hokkaido and Honshu) and the Korean Peninsula.

Foodplants

The primary larval foodplants are Alder (Alnus glutinosa), Aspen (Populus tremula), Beech (Fagus sylvatica), birches (Betula spp.), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Crab Apple (Malus sylvestris), Dog-rose (Rosa canina), Dogwood (Cornus sanguinea), elms (Ulmus spp.), Goat Willow (Salix caprea), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), limes (Tilia spp.), oaks (Quercus spp.), Raspberry (Rubus idaeus), Rhododendron (Rhododendron ponticum), Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), Sweet Chestnut (Castanea sativa), Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), Wild Cherry (Prunus avium) and willows (Salix spp.).
