Synanthedon culiciformis, known as the large red-belted clearwing, is a moth of the family Sesiidae. It is found in the Palearctic and Nearctic realms.
The wingspan is 23–27 millimetres (0.91–1.06 in). The length of the forewings is 12–14 mm (0.47–0.55 in). The moth flies from April to August depending on the location.
The larvae feed on various deciduous trees, especially birch but also alder.

The primary larval foodplants are Alder (Alnus glutinosa), Downy Birch (Betula pubescens) and Silver Birch (Betula pendula).
